Student safety and security were a significant priority of the BCS 2023 Bond Proposal. Through bond funding, all school buildings will receive the addition of a “secure vestibule” to manage visitor access through the main office and deter potential threats throughout the day. What is a “secure vestibule”? A secure vestibule is a controlled entry point designed to enhance security measures and protect students and staff from potential threats. Located at the main entrance of each school building, the secure vestibule serves as a buffer zone between the exterior and interior spaces. It has access control systems, surveillance cameras, and intercom systems. Visitors must first enter the vestibule before accessing the main school building. Once inside the vestibule, they must undergo a screening process, including presenting identification, signing in, and being visually verified by school personnel. This controlled entry process helps to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the school premises and allows staff to monitor and manage visitor traffic more effectively. Overall, the design and implementation of a secure vestibule are crucial components of comprehensive school safety plans, helping to create a secure and supportive learning environment for all Royal students.
